The Pool Care Los Angeles

Pool tiling · Toluca Lake

Forty years of patches, stripped back

A concrete pool carrying four decades of layered repairs. Everything came off, the shell was made true, and it was finished in a small blue ceramic tile.

Three separate attempts to avoid doing it properly, stacked on top of each other.

Before the rebuild

What was under the old work

Demolition found a false floor, tile laid straight over paint, and a layer of new concrete poured over an older finish.

Toluca Lake pool fact

Why the tile is a small format

Under water the tile stops being one flat blue and starts varying piece to piece. That is the whole reason to use a small format rather than a large one.

Everything off, the shell made true, then tiled

Demolition found three earlier repairs stacked on each other. All of it came off so the shell could be brought true before a small blue ceramic went on.

What went into the job

  • False floor removed
  • Tile laid straight over paint taken off
  • Concrete poured over an older finish cut out
  • Shell brought true before any tile
  • Small-format blue ceramic through the interior
  • Joint lines carried through the steps and corners

The result

A pool with one finish instead of four, and a small-format tile that varies piece to piece under water rather than reading as one flat blue.

This week on the job

Straight from the truck

Short clips from real visits. Nothing staged, nothing bought from a stock library.

  • Setting mosaic tile along the waterline by hand
  • Draining a pool and scrubbing the plaster back to clean
  • A swamp-green pool drained and washed back to bright
  • The crew troweling fresh plaster across an empty shell

Came home from a two-week vacation and our pool was basically green. The previous company told us we needed to drain it, which sounded crazy. Pool Care LA came out, tested everything, explained what was happening and started the cleanup. Took a little time but now the water looks better than it has in years.Read in full

We had another pool company for almost five years and slowly the service got worse. They would say they came but the pool was always dirty. Jake from Pool Care LA has been completely different. He actually checks the equipment and lets us know if something needs attention.Read in full

Our pump stopped working on a Friday afternoon and we were worried because we had family coming over that weekend. Robert came out, found the problem and got everything running again. Honest guy, and he explained everything before doing the repair.Read in full

I don't usually leave reviews but these guys deserve it. My pool was a mess and I was tired of trying to fix the chemicals myself. They came out and took care of everything. Water is clear now and I don't have to worry anymore.Read in full

Bought a house in Beverly Hills with an older pool and honestly had no idea how to maintain it. The equipment was old and everything was confusing. They walked me through what needed to be done first and what could wait. No pressure. That was appreciated.Read in full

We thought we needed a completely new pool system. Turns out it was just a few issues with the pump and filter. They saved us a lot of money by fixing what actually needed fixing.
