Equipment repair, and what the labor costs
Pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, plumbing, automation, timers, valves, pool lights and pool electrical work within our licensed scope.
- Free standard diagnosis: inside our service area, and it stays free even if you decide not to go ahead with the repair.
- Labor from $175 an hour: one hour minimum, plus parts. Common repairs are quoted as a fixed price in writing before work begins, and maintenance members take 20% off repair labor.
- Quoted separately: underground leak detection, pressure testing buried plumbing, excavation and complex electrical troubleshooting.
- New equipment: buy it yourself and we fit it, or we specify, supply and fit it — the second is the only way we can stand behind the whole pad.
If a job needs a different contractor classification, we say so and hand it to the right licensed contractor rather than stretching.

What the monthly price covers, and what is billed on top
Keeping a balanced pool balanced is in the price. Fixing water that arrived out of balance is a job, and it gets quoted as one.
- Included — the full weekly visit: chemistry adjusted, debris netted and vacuumed, tile and walls brushed, every basket emptied, the whole pad inspected, gates closed.
- Included — standard chemicals: chlorine, muriatic acid, alkalinity and pH adjusters, calcium and hardness adjustment, stabilizer, at normal usage. No separate chemical invoice.

How much does pool service cost in my area?
With Pool Care LA, weekly service starts at $159 a month for a pool up to 15,000 gallons and $179 for the 15,000–25,000 gallon range that most Los Angeles back gardens fall into. Most of our customers pay between $179 and $249 a month, standard chemicals included. Larger pools and pools with spas or water features sit higher. Send us the details and we will give you the actual number rather than the range.
Are chemicals included, or billed on top?
Included. Chlorine, muriatic acid, alkalinity and pH adjusters, calcium and hardness adjustment and stabilizer at normal usage are all part of the monthly price, so there is no separate chemical invoice. Corrective and specialty treatments — phosphate remover, heavy algae treatment, large shock doses, metal and stain treatment, correcting a badly overdosed stabilizer — are quoted separately, because those are fixing a problem rather than maintaining a balance.
How often should a pool guy come out?
Once a week is the standard in Los Angeles, and it is what we do year round. Some pools need two visits — heavy tree cover, heavy summer use, or complex water features. That is +$129 a month. Fortnightly service saves money on the invoice and usually spends it again on chemicals and algae recovery, because chlorine and pH drift further than a fortnight allows.
What does it cost to clean a green pool?
Green-to-clean recovery starts at $349, and a typical residential job lands between $349 and $749. The range is that wide because a pool that went green last weekend and a pool that has been green since last summer are genuinely different amounts of work — different numbers of shock treatments, different numbers of filter cleans, sometimes new cartridges. If the water is far enough gone that chemistry stops being the cheaper route, we say so and price a drain and refill instead.
Do you charge for a repair diagnosis?
No. Standard equipment diagnosis is free within our service area, and it stays free even if you decide not to go ahead with the repair. Underground leak detection, pressure testing buried plumbing, excavation and complex electrical troubleshooting are the exceptions — those are specialist work and we agree the price before starting.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. Weekly service is month to month, and you can cancel before the next billing period. There is also no start-up fee for new clients — the first inspection and first normal service are part of starting. The one exception is a pool that is green or badly neglected on day one: that needs a recovery priced separately before a weekly route makes sense.
Is pool service more expensive in Beverly Hills?
Not with us. The same base pricing applies across all 35 communities we serve. Where a specific property takes longer — hillside access, a long carry to the equipment pad, unusually heavy leaf fall, a complicated pad — there is an adjustment of roughly $20 to $60 a month. It is about that property, not about the postcode.
Is pool service worth it?
The honest test is what your time and your equipment are worth. A year of weekly service costs less than replacing one heater, and most of what a service actually protects you from is not the water — it is a pump running dry, a filter left dirty until the pressure climbs, or a salt cell scaling up unnoticed. If you enjoy the chemistry and check the pad yourself, doing it in-house is entirely reasonable.
What does the rest of the Los Angeles market charge?
Weekly pool service advertised across the Los Angeles area in August 2026 ran roughly $105–$185 a month, with per-visit figures quoted anywhere between about $42 and $230 depending on what the price actually covered. The spread is that wide because “pool service” means different things to different companies. A $95 route price with chemicals billed on top is not cheaper than a $179 price with everything in it — it is the same money arriving in two envelopes.
What should I ask any pool service?
Five questions. Does the price include all chemicals? Ours does, at standard usage. How many filter cleans a year are included? Ours: two. What exactly gets checked on the pad? Ours is a published list. Is there a minimum contract? Ours: none. What does a diagnosis cost? Ours: nothing, inside our service area.
What do you not take on?
Weekly service is built for private residential pools and spas. On our normal weekly rate we do not take large commercial and public pools, hotel and HOA pools with commercial compliance requirements, or large excavation projects as an ordinary repair call. If a problem falls outside what we do, we say so directly and point you at the right licensed specialist rather than taking the job and learning on your pool.
