Straight answer first. This website is new, and we are not going to fill this page with testimonials you cannot verify. Reviews are only worth anything when you can click through and read them on a platform we do not control — so below is what to look at, and what to ask us for directly in the meantime.
Ask us for references
The most useful thing we can offer right now is not a quote on a web page — it is a customer in your own neighbourhood who has been on the route long enough to have an opinion. Ask, and we will put you in touch.
If you are already a customer and want to leave a review, it genuinely helps a small family business more than any advert we could buy. Send us a note and we will point you at the right place.
And check the licence
Reviews tell you how a company behaves. A licence tells you whether it is entitled to do the work at all. California contractor licences are public, free to search, and take about thirty seconds to check at cslb.ca.gov.
Do this for every pool company you are considering, not just for us. In this trade it is the single fastest filter there is.
How to read pool service reviews in Los Angeles
Star ratings in this industry are noisier than in most. A few things worth knowing before you weigh them.
Volume beats score
A 5.0 from eight reviews tells you less than a 4.6 from two hundred. Pool service is a weekly relationship over years; the interesting reviews are the ones written by people who have been through a breakdown.
Read the three-star ones
Five-star reviews mostly say “great service”. Three-star reviews say what actually happened — a missed week, a slow repair, a billing surprise — and how the company answered.
Watch for seasonal clusters
A run of complaints every September usually means a company that cannot keep up when heaters go on and the summer staff leaves. That is a scheduling problem, and it will be your scheduling problem too.
Check whether repairs are mentioned
Plenty of companies clean well and vanish when a pump fails. If nobody in the reviews mentions equipment work, it may be because the company does not really do it.
Match the review to your pool
A glowing review from a small valley pool says little about how a company handles a hillside pool with a spa, a heater and automation. Local reviews are worth more.
Ignore the word “affordable”
It appears in reviews of the most and the least expensive companies in the city. What matters is what the price includes — the five questions settle that faster than any review.
Questions about reviews and references
Why does this page not have testimonials on it?
Because a testimonial typed onto our own website by us proves nothing, and everybody knows it. When there are reviews you can read on a platform we do not control, this page will link to them. Until then, we would rather give you a real customer to call.
How do I check a pool company before hiring it?
Four things, in order: search the California contractor licence at cslb.ca.gov; ask for the written visit checklist; ask exactly what the price includes, especially chemicals and filter cleans; and ask for a reference on your own street. A company that hesitates on any of the four has told you something. The pricing page has the questions written out.
Can I speak to one of your customers?
Yes. Tell us your neighbourhood on the quote form and we will try to find someone nearby rather than someone convenient for us.
I am a customer — where should I leave a review?
Get in touch and we will point you at the right place. If you would rather send someone our way instead, the referral program pays $100 per referral, up to $200.
