FAQ

Pool Service Questions & Answers

Getting started

How do I request a quote from Pool Care LA?

Fill in the quote form or call us. We ask about the pool, the type of service you are looking for and your timeline, then come back with a number. There is no charge for the consultation, and the more detail you give about size, condition and equipment, the closer the first number will be to the final one.

Can Pool Care LA help if I am not sure which service I need?

Yes, and it is the most common way people start. The quote process asks about your pool and its current condition so we can recommend the right next step rather than the biggest one. If the water has gone green, the answer is usually a green-to-clean recovery before anything else; if the plaster is stained, it may be an acid wash; if something on the pad has stopped, it is a repair.

Can I switch from another pool service?

Yes. Check your own notice period first, and tell us on the form what went wrong — that usually says more about what your pool needs than the pool does. If it has drifted while you were deciding, we will say so before we start rather than after.

How should I check a pool company before hiring one?

Four things, in order: search the California contractor licence at cslb.ca.gov; ask for the written visit checklist; ask exactly what the price includes, especially chemicals and filter cleans; and ask for a reference on your own street. More on reading pool service reviews.

What weekly service includes

What is included in the Pool Care LA Maintenance Membership?

Weekly pool service plus membership benefits. The weekly visit covers checking and adjusting water chemistry, removing debris, brushing surfaces, emptying baskets and inspecting equipment. Members also receive 20% off individual services and priority scheduling. The full checklist is published here.

What are the benefits of becoming a maintenance member?

Consistent weekly care, 20% off individual services and priority scheduling. The discount and the priority both matter most at the moment something breaks: on a single larger repair the 20% can be worth more than a month of service, and being already on a route is the difference between “this week” and “in two weeks”.

How often should a pool be serviced?

Weekly, all year. Los Angeles pools do not get a closed season, and summer chlorine demand is high enough that a fortnight is long enough for algae to establish. We typically service pools one to two times a week throughout the year. Heavy tree cover or heavy use pushes a pool toward two visits. The longer answer.

Do you service spas as well as pools?

Yes — the same weekly maintenance plan works for both pools and spas. A spa is a second body of water with its own chemistry and its own equipment, so it is part of what gets checked, not an afterthought.

Can you clean the pool before a party?

Yes. We offer pre-party cleanings with 24 hours’ notice, so the pool is right on the day rather than on your regular route day.

Services and one-time work

Do you offer one-time pool services, or only weekly maintenance?

Both, with one exception. Alongside weekly maintenance we offer select one-time specialty services: Green to Clean, Acid Wash, Equipment Repair and New Plaster Start-Up. We do not offer one-time routine pool cleanings — a single clean on a pool nobody is maintaining looks the same again within a fortnight.

Can a green pool be cleaned without draining it?

Almost always, yes. Our Green to Clean service rehabilitates the water without draining the pool, and swimmers are usually back in within about two days. Draining is a last resort here: an empty shell carries its own risks and the plaster does not enjoy drying out. How the process works.

What equipment do you repair?

Heaters, filters, pumps, salt generators, plumbing, electrical components, automation controls, pool lights and time clocks. We diagnose first, then repair before replacing wherever the part can still be saved. Dedicated pages cover pumps, heaters, filters, salt systems, lights and automation.

Do you build pools?

No. We maintain, recover and repair pools; we do not construct them. If you are planning a build, this article covers the decisions that matter later, written from the maintenance side.

Pricing and payment

How much does pool service cost?

Published weekly rates across the Los Angeles area ran roughly $105–$185 a month in August 2026, with per-visit figures quoted anywhere between about $42 and $230 depending on what the price actually covers. Your own number depends mainly on pool volume, tree cover, whether there is a spa and whether chemicals are included. The full breakdown, with sources.

Why do two quotes for the same pool differ so much?

Usually because one includes chemicals and filter cleans and the other does not. Volume, trees, a spa, salt versus chlorine, condition on day one and access account for the rest. There are five questions that settle it in about a minute.

Can I pay automatically each month?

Yes. We can set up an automatic payment plan so there is nothing to remember each month, and we accept all major credit cards. Ask when you get in touch.

How does the Refer a Friend program work?

For every friend you refer who calls us and mentions your name, you receive a $100 credit toward weekly maintenance or any other service, up to two credits — $200 in total. Details here.

Areas and scheduling

What areas does Pool Care LA serve?

The Foothill communities and the surrounding Los Angeles neighbourhoods: Altadena, Alhambra, Arcadia, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Eagle Rock, Echo Park, Encino, Glassell Park, Glendale, Highland Park, Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Downtown Los Angeles, Los Feliz, Mid-City, Monrovia, Montrose, North Hollywood, Pasadena, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sherman Oaks, Sierra Madre, Silver Lake, South Pasadena, Studio City, Sunland, Toluca Lake, Tujunga, Universal City, Valley Village and West Hollywood. Full list with local pages.

My neighbourhood is not on the list. Can you still come?

Ask rather than assume. Weekly service runs as routes by day of the week rather than as a radius on a map, so whether a property works depends on which day it would fall on more than on the mileage.

Which day will you come?

Each area sits on a particular day of the week. Ask which day covers your neighbourhood when you get in touch — it is worth knowing before you plan a weekend around it.

Where are you based?

Studio City — 4121 Radford Ave, Ste. #214. We are a mobile service, so that is where the routes start rather than a shop you can visit. More about the company.

Tell us about your pool and we will price it
