Why does my pool get a white line on the tile so quickly here?
The water replacing evaporation is already hard, and evaporation removes water while leaving calcium behind. Nothing is broken — it is arithmetic. The fix is reading hardness weekly and brushing the tile before the deposit bonds.
Will an acid wash take the calcium off my tile?
No. An acid wash is a plaster treatment: the pool is drained and a thin layer of surface removed to lift staining underneath. Waterline calcium on tile is a different problem, and preventing it costs far less than dealing with it later. How it works.
Is a salt system a mistake with water this hard?
Not a mistake, but not set-and-forget either. A cell in the foothills scales faster than the same cell in the valley, and a scaled cell under-produces long before it fails outright.
