Questions we get from Los Feliz owners
Our pool dates from the 1930s. Can it still be acid washed?
It depends on what is left. A wash removes a thin layer of plaster, so the pool needs at least half an inch in reserve first — and pools this old have often been washed several times already. Where the reserve has gone, another wash buys a season and costs you the surface.
The park drops leaves all year. Is one visit a week enough?
Usually yes, provided baskets and filter are treated as the main event rather than an afterthought. Where the canopy sits over the water, two visits a week is the honest answer. The tell is the pump basket: full every week rather than half full means more debris than one visit can carry.
The equipment is down two flights of steps. Does that change the service?
It changes the time, not the checklist — mostly filter cleaning, since cartridges and grids get carried up and back down. It is also why we would rather catch a small leak on the pad early than a dead pump at the bottom of the stairs in July.
Repair the old pump or replace it?
We diagnose first, because on a hillside pool much of what looks like pump failure is a suction-side air leak that a new pump would inherit. When the motor really is finished, a variable-speed unit suits long runs, and manufacturers put the saving at up to $1,100 a year against a single-speed pump.
How much does pool service cost in Los Feliz?
Weekly service starts at $159 a month for a pool up to 15,000 gallons and runs to $249 a month for pools over 40,000, with standard chemicals included. Most customers pay between $179 and $249. Los Feliz is priced the same as everywhere else on our routes — the address does not change the number, the pool does.
