On a flat lot the equipment sits a few steps from the water. In 90068 it sits wherever there was ground to put it: a terrace below the deck, a garage two levels down, a corner of the lot fifty feet away.
The pipe run gets long, gains elbows and climbs, so a pump here is not just moving water but lifting it — and everything from prime to filter pressure reads differently as a result.
The pools match the setting: vanishing edges, dark plaster, water meant to read as part of the view. That is two bodies of water and two pumps, on a ridge where wind and full sun work all day.

Our equipment is two levels below the pool. Is that why the pump is so loud?
Often, yes. Noise on a hillside pool usually means the pump is working against more resistance than it was chosen for, or drawing air through a long suction line. Both sound like a failing motor and neither is fixed by replacing one, so we check the run, the lift and the fittings first.
The vanishing edge stops flowing on windy afternoons. Is something broken?
Usually not yet. Wind and evaporation drop the level, the basin runs low, and the edge pump loses the water it needs to push over the lip. The thing to check is the auto-fill: when it fails, the edge is the first place you see it, and the basin pump running dry is the first thing that gets damaged.
There is nowhere to park and the gate has a code. How does service actually work?
Much as you would arrange it for a gardener: code or key held, gate relatched and closed at the end of every visit. What we ask is that the day stays stable, because a hillside stop squeezed in on another day is the one that gets rushed.
We have people over most summer weekends. Is once a week enough?
For a pool that is entertained around heavily, twice a week is the realistic answer through summer — not for cleanliness so much as chemistry, since bather load and full sun pull chlorine down between visits. The alternative is a Friday visit plus a pre-party clean, arranged with a day's notice.
How much does pool service cost in Hollywood Hills?
Weekly service starts at $159 a month for a pool up to 15,000 gallons and runs to $249 a month for pools over 40,000, with standard chemicals included. Most customers pay between $179 and $249. Hollywood Hills is priced the same as everywhere else on our routes — the address does not change the number, the pool does.
